Im Urwald von Costa Rica

Fotografien von Alexander Honold

Costa Rica's virgin forest is older than any known civilisation. Nevertheless, every year millions of hectares of rainforest are cut down as a result of globalization, consumerism, and the resulting climate change. The extreme deforestation contributes to the disconnection of humanity from the virgin forest. What does a picture of the rainforest trigger in us today? What does the reality in this forest look like? And how can we overcome the distance between ourselves and the rainforest? Alexander Honold was born in Ulm in 1995 and grew up nearby in Dornstadt. While studying biology at the University of Ulm, he also attended the Universidad de Costa Rica in San José, where he took courses exclusively on ecological topics.
